Gold,
platinum near historic highs; uptrend
intact
LONDON (Reuters) - Gold prices rose
towards historic highs on Tuesday as the
dollar stayed weak on expectations of a half-percentage-point cut in U.S. interest
rates.
The market looked ahead to a slew of U.S.
bank results, which could intensify
financial market uncertainty and influence
the dollar. Any signs of further weakness
in the U.S. currency might attract more
investors into the precious metals market.
Other key metals also advanced, with
platinum near record highs and silver
keeping within sight of a 27-year peak hit
on Monday. Palladium eased but was near a
two-month high. |

Snipes warns IRS against confrontation; cites IRS
record of abuses |
|
Snipes has attacked the
IRS, claiming the IRS deceives people to
"terrorize, enslave, rape or pillage"
taxpayers.
Frivolous Return Program senior technical advisor
for the IRS, Shauna Henline, read excerpts of the
document into the record during Snipes' tax
evasion trial Thursday at the direction of
prosecutors.
In a 600-page declaration signed by Snipes and
mailed Dec. 4, 2006, Snipes said he had "no
ill intent or malice" and didn't want to
evade any lawful requirement to pay taxes."
But he further stated the government had "no
lawful authority to impose any kind of criminal
sanctions."
Snipes was indicted in a sealed indictment in
April of 2006.
The indictment was made public in October of that
year.

| Toxic Lights: Just what the
doctor ordered... |

Hazardous
Waste — This is the bulb of the future: in
spite of the fact that it contains mercury which
is a neurotoxin. It's especially dangerous for
children and the unborn, but presents a problem
once it's in the soil -- and just getting it,
intact, to the dump so that it can be smashed and
the mercury released into the soil there [?] is a
problem in itself. Generally, they're destroyed in
the trucks and
workers are inadvertently exposed to the
toxins in the bulbs.
Not that you'll have a choice for long...
Soon, you will be legislated into buying them,
since the tungsten lights you use today are going
to be outlawed.
They blame it on global warming, which may or may
not be based upon real science. But real science
does show that these bulbs are dangerous, and
they're sure to become a toxic issue with which
future generations will have to contend.
