Free
Internet? It will happen if these guys get their
way!
The move is on: a lot of people say the only chance
of turning the economy around is to'open the game'
to everyone. But will the rules be the same as they
are today? Or will special access connote to
"limited access?"
Internet on
the road?
There are some
interesting changes in the field of technology.
Don't miss some of the cutting edge options
All license plates in
Arizona to be photographed
Sounds fine at first blush, right? Recovered
vehicles, faster action by law enforcement
personnel... They're telling citizens they really
can't see a 'down side,' and most people say they
don't see a way this could be used to make money
from motorists.
Oh? So how about being
taxed by the mile?
Oregon got a $2.1 MILLION dollar FEDERAL grant in
2001
to test drive this idea -- which was awarded by the
Federal Highway Administration along with
$771,000.00 in state funding to get this show 'on
the road.' The problem was, it required an expensive
option: GPS on all vehicles. The license plate
photography option circumvents that issue entirely
and gives them the whole thing in one tidy, little
package. Why?Because the gas taxes citizens have
paid at the pump for all these years is no longer
covering the cost of maintaining roads -- especially
since fuel efficient cars have depleted those
funds.
Now about that downside...

Eric Holder, a former Clinton
Justice Department official and hate crime advocate,
supports Internet restrictions
Obama AG Choice
Advocates Censoring Internet
A push for “reasonable” restrictions on the
internet is in the works as it appears Obama’s
presumptive choice for AG will be Eric Holder, a
former Clinton Justice Department official. In 1999,
Holder advocated internet regulation. On May 28,
1999,
Holder told NPR:
"The court has really struck down every
government effort to try to regulate it. We
tried with regard to pornography. It is gonna be
a difficult thing, but it seems to me that if we
can come up with reasonable restrictions,
reasonable regulations in how people interact on
the Internet, that is something that the Supreme
Court and the courts ought to favorably look
at."
Holder’s was using the April 1999 Columbine High
School massacre as a point of reference.
At that point in time, shooters Dylan Klebold and
Eric Harris were believed to have learned how to
construct bombs using the internet.

The
Citizen's Coalition
recently formed in Quartzsite is
taking issue with the future status of the post
vacated when Bennett relinquished his position
citing 'personal reasons.'
Bennett's letter of resignation was
presented to the council Wednesday, August 27th, and
formally accepted at a special meeting held
Wednesday, August 28th. Many spectators at Tuesday's
meeting indicated they found the diatribe presented
against Mayor Bennett offensive, even though the
case against Bennett -- presented without
interruption by Daniel Field-- did not appear to be
without merit.
Bennett officiated during the first part of that
Tuesday council meeting and excused himself for the
duration of the session, leaving the room to the
remaining members of the council and Town
Manager/Attorney Daniel G. Field, to discuss the
case against him in open session, with many
townspeople in attendance. He did not attend
Thursday's meeting when his resignation was
presented for acceptance.

The fact is, there's more
money changing hands than is comfortable for most
